    Description

    WELCOME
    :
    For your consideration: this
    early Swedish
    Rostfri Med Skarpa"
Hunting Bowie Knife / JAKTKNIV  Med Skarpa
    Leather Sheath
are from my personal collection .
    This
    Rare K
    nife
    has a beautiful
    Mora Sweden
    Curly Birch Burl Wood Handle
    and
    Mirror-like steel fixed blade
    .
The vintage knife combo was likely
    manufactured
    in the
    1930's or 1940's
as indicated by the unique fixed blade design and stamping.
This is an Exceptionally Nice Hunting Bowie that reveals the handcrafted quality needed for producing long-lasting
    Swedish
    service knives.
Remember, “back in their day” these older knives were purchased to be used…
    Not
collected, making this great vintage condition difficult to find.

Everything is tight on the knife including the
    shiny metal bolster
    and the
    tang nut
at the butt end...so there is
    No movement.
The metal bolster has some short scratches plus some nice patina, and the handsome wood handle has a 3/4" long surface age line (near the bolster) which does not effect the use of the knife.
    This beautiful
    SKARPA  "Birdseye curly
    birch" wood
    handle
    is in
    Very
    Good Condition,
    especially for its vintage age.

    BLADE
    :
    The bright
    5" long
    f
    ixed blade
    appears
    straight
    and has a unique
    "finger / cross-guard blade design"
that is made from the blade itself.  This early Swedish design (built-in finger guard) helps with better blade control.
    The vintage
    ROSTFRI  MED
    SKARPA
    steel blade
    is reflective
and makes a great field knife.  There are some light surface scratches or some signs of sharpening and some tiny age specks, normal for being decades old.  This
    clip-point hunting/skinning Bowie
    has a nice edge with
    No blade edge nicks
    .
    (Please view photos for details)
The blade is stamped on one side:
    Frost's
    ROSTFRI
    MED  SKARPA
This early Swedish style of knife has been sought after for hunting, fishing, and sometimes used as a fighting tool.
These handcrafted "Birdseye Birch Burl Handle" hunting knives are becoming
    increasingly
harder to find in Exceptionally Good condition.
    SHEATH
    :
    The companion
    leather sheath
fits the knife like a glove, and offers secure carrying.  This Swedish sheath (or case) measures
    9  1/2" long
    and
    is reinforced with the original
    "Nickle-silver" plate
at the stiff throat.  There is also a
    curved Nickle-silver
    metal tip protector
that is riveted to the curved edge.
    The sheath's
    stitching is intac
    t
    and the case ha
    s
secure metal rivets that have some nice patina
    .   There is
    a
    working fastening strap with metal
    snap
    ,
    plus an
    attached belt loop
    with
    extra
    factory
    hanging slit.
    This vintage Mora Sweden
    Frosts
    leather case is in
    Very Good
    and useable
condition. Since it is decades old, there are some light signs of handling or usage, and some normal surface scuffs.
The back of the sheath is
    Factory Stamped in black lettering:
    Frosts
    JAKTKNIV  No  1129
    Rostfei  med  skarpa
    (Please view photos for details)
    This SKARPA knife has
a lot of character and vintage appeal....with that "patina of time" appearance not yet achieved with newer knives.
It is just waiting for the right person to appreciate its quality handcrafted design and make it their own!
