Description
DescriptionExquisite pair of Art Nouveau French silver cufflinks. Featuring the profile of the warrior VERCINGETORIX, the Gallic chieftain who rallied the tribes of Gaul (modern-day France) to repel the Roman invasion of Julius Caesar. Signed BECKER . Edmond-Henri Becker was a famous French sculptor and medalist, goldsmith, jeweler and engraver working in Paris. A pupil of Charles Valton, he exhibited with the Société des artistes français from 1892. In good condition with general wear commensurate with age and use. Hallmarked with the French head of the wild boar indicating a silver content of at least .800/1000 silver. Front face measures 5/8" diameter. Total silver weighs 5.4 grams.
