    Description

    Antique, possibly mid 1800's,
    illustration from the famous Devi Mahatmya series featuring Gods including
    the Hindu goddess Parvati with her husband Shiva, paying homage to the goddess Devi.
    A four-armed Devi is seated and before her is her vehicle the tiger and an assembly of gods and devotees.
    The goddess is seated on a hexagonal chowki. Over the chowki is laid a lotus cushion. Her seat has been consecrated inside a shrine, which seems to form the front elevation of a royal palace.
    Highly detailed depiction, surrounded by a faded red, gold and blue border
    and delicate golden highlights.
    The frame measures~ 12.5"x 9.5".
    Condition: I noted some stains, fold/wrinkle marks, some color fading, a tear mark on one of the crowns of Shiva.
