    Description

    An super
    HUGE
    early
trade knife by I. Wilson of Sheffield, Eng.
with the blade made from iron
    from the Jim Dresslar collection
    . Overall length is
    an impressive 20”
    and the blade measures
    13.5
    ". This knife w
as likely used for butchering buffalo during the great bison hunt of the 1870-1885.
    Iron rivets (
    6)
    hold the beautifully patinated
    wood
grip. This knife comes from my personal collection of primitive/frontier/Indian knives dating from 1800-1875. This particular knife is
an early Wilson as evidenced by the 6 rivets as well as the tapered tang
. I purchased dozens of these early American knives from the collection of the famed Jim Dresslar of Bargersville, Indiana where he had a private museum ~ The Indian Wars Museum.
Provenance tag accompanies knife to the successful buyer.
