Why Initial cartridges have more ink than regular and XL cartridges?
These cartridges, although intended to be sold with new printers, make an excellent choice for replacement cartridges.
The reason they contain significantly more ink is because a new printer consumes about 65% of the ink from initial cartridges during the one time setup charging process.
The remainder of the ink is then used for printing. When using these cartridges as a replacement cartridges the printer will use 100% of the ink for printing. Of course Epson doesn’t share these facts. If people knew, they would be buying new printers just for the ink to save 0.

Try a simple test. Weigh a full XL Cartridge and compare it to the weight of the empty XL cartridge to get the consumed ink weight. Then weigh a full initial cartridge and compare it to the weight of the empty initial cartridge. Do the math and you will be convinced.
Our research shows all cartridge container (empty cartridges) are the same weight for initial and retail inks, full black initial cartridge is about 42 grams, and color initial cartridges are about 39 grams. Weigh your full retail 802 inks and you will see the difference
