This is a fun and budget-friendly deck built around
Oketra The True
for the new Magic The Gathering
Brawl
format
.
The
Brawl
format is a Commander variant that uses only Standard-legal cards.
Brawl
is very similar to Commander, with the following exceptions:
Players in multiplayer games start at 30 life, not 40.
Players in one-one-one start at 20 life, not 40.
Decks consist of 60 cards, not 100.
Any Planeswalkers can be a commander regardless of they have the ability to become a commander or not.
Only cards from Standard-legal sets can be used; consequently, Brawl uses their own banned and restricted list.
Commander damage rules (from commander) do not apply.
You can use multiple copies of any one basic land in decks with a colorless commander.
This Oketra Brawl deck is all about Cats!
This
Brawl
deck is based around
Oketra The True
and cats of course! While the deck ramps up towards winning the game with an army of cats, zombie or otherwise, it is also swarming your enemy with evasive creatures.
There is a lot of removal in the deck and some anthems to boost your horde of creatures. There is recursion from the graveyard so you can keep getting creatures and outlast your foes in the mid and late game.
Since the
Brawl
format is singleton just like it's bigger cousin Commander you might not be able to drop 4 copies of your favorite card, but you will see a lot more flavor and themes in these kinds of decks.
And this deck has cats, lifegain and control!
Oketra The True
is an amazing card for supporting this kind of token aggro strategy. Adding built-in embalm and recursion from cards like
Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle
this deck gives you the gas to win games!
So if you like a lot of tokens, a lot of removal and a lot of Cats then this deck is for you!
