Description
An outstanding, Western Cutlery, Boulder, Colorado, bird and trout hunting knife, model 648.This example has stacked leather handle with brass spacers instead of the traditional white fiber. The handle is smooth and shiny, with no signs of leather deterioration, separation.
The aluminum pommel and brass guard are highly polished as is the blade. The blade shows no signs of sharpening marks, rusting, pitting, or grind marks.
The blade has a very desirable "saber grind" instead of a flat grind found on some of Western's knives.
The overall length is 6 3/4 inches, with blade length of 3 inches. This is a great example of a 1950's-60's Western bird and trout knife.
The knife has been carefully cleaned, and the leather given a coat of wax and polished.
A super collectable, and highly desirable. The sheath is Western's oak leaf design, and is in excellent condition with no missing stitches, working keeper strap (plain nickel), and no cuts to the leather. An outstanding addition to any Western collection.
