This is the 1st Edition from 1947. It has also been stored in an old mailing envelope all these years that is also postmarked from 1947. This program is considered quite rare!
This "Blackouts Of 1947" souvenir program is from the comedy & variety revue show that was popular during & after WWII, at the El Capitan Theatre on Vine Street in Hollywood. The Blackouts played to standing room only audiences for almost nine years. Each year there was an official program sometimes with extra editions.
PINUP ARTIST EARL MORAN ~ 1893 - 1984: Earl Moran was born in Belle Plaine, Iowa & was a 20th Century pinup & glamour artist. Moran studied at the famed Art Students League in Manhattan where he was instructed by Thomas Fogarty, Norman Rockwell's teacher. Moran signed an exclusive contract with Brown & Bigelow in 1932 & by 1937, his pinups had sold millions of calendars for the company. In 1940, Life Magazine ran a feature article entitled 'Speaking of Pictures' which mostly focused on Moran's work & made him a national celebrity. In 1941, Moran helped launch a new men's magazine called Beauty Parade & he later contributed pinups to other magazines such as Flirt, Wink & Giggles. In 1946, Moran moved to Hollywood where he painted many movie stars including Betty Grable for publicity posters. He interviewed a young starlet named Norma Jean Dougherty who wanted to model for him. For the next four years, Marilyn Monroe posed for Moran & the two became friends.
