    Description

From a Tucson estate and the historic Miller Curio Company workshop right here in the Old Pueblo is this elegant pair of Tom Bahe Navaho silver overlay cufflinks,  these with antique red coral embellishment and a great look. The mid century or so ornaments serve to demonstrate the level of quality Bahe was capable when he worked as the Miller house silversmith both here and at their Indian Village shop in Estes Park - this during the two decades after WW2. They also serve as an "artful" example of period Southwestern bench silver from a highly regarded tribal maker. In that regard the distinctive Bahe style overlay and inspired use of the red coral adds greatly to the visual charm and distinctly vintage look. There is the correct and well referenced "TOM BAHE" to the back of one. So you know, cufflinks like these do not fall off trees - while I've seen a few other Bahe examples over the years, I think you will look a long time for another pair with such panache. These came from the estate along with a pair of Bahe turquoise and silver dangle earrings I will sometime offer. Weight is very good for the form at about 14.9 total grams on my portable digital scale. Condition is quite fine with a nice aura of time to the surfaces. You polish them if you want - I'm not doing it. The coral is well preserved (what I thought was a tiny nick on one turned out to be just a spot of surface grunge).  The trader supplied sterling swivel toggles work exactly as the should. Typical and expected minor signs of previous cuff duty simply validate a history. A look at the pics should give a good idea of appearance and condition. Size of each is about  in. horizontal and  in. vertical. If you seek out mid 20th century Southwestern silver adornment from the upper tier of Tucson's "Indian Made" tribal craftsmen, or simply wish a single immediate  improvement to the ambiance of each day, these will have great meaning for you.
